Elatec, a highly specialised distributor of RFID solutions, has been chosen as a new licence partner for the Swiss company LEGIC Identsystems AG. LEGIC’s 13.56 MHz contactless smart card technology is used primarily for personal identification applications, and the strategic partnership will give Elatec’s portfolio of standard systems and tailored solutions for customer-specific RFID applications an even broader basis.
The licence agreement between Elatec GmbH, and LEGIC Identsysteme AG of Wetzikon near Zurich, extends Elatec’s product portfolio of RFID solutions to the 13.56 MHz operating range, supporting multiple industry standards such as ISO 15693, ISO 14443, and the LEGIC RF standard. Elatec offers customers and partners high quality readers and transponders for state-of-the-art identification solutions developed on the basis of licensed RFID technology and its own components.
Stefan Haertel, head of the RFID division at Elatec Vertriebs GmbH, explains the significance of the agreement: “The strategic partnership with LEGIC will enable us to offer our customers an even broader range of solutions, such as access control. Our products incorporating LEGIC technology are ideal for applications such as multifunctional employee, visitor and supplier IDs”.
One single identification credential for all applications
The integrated, uniform technology platform is capable of handling the authorization management for up to 127 applications using a single identification credential. The variety of applications ranges from access control, time & attendance, parking, IT access, and other market needs of the future. LEGIC-based Elatec solutions are easily combined in tailor-made systems meeting individual requirements and needs. The modular LEGIC-based system solutions can be assembled and upgraded at any time.
“The decision to opt for RFID components from Elatec represents a secure investment. As LEGIC licence partner, Elatec will now incorporate LEGIC technology in its offering to existing and potential customers setting up with RFID applications. With comprehensive advice and a wide product range we can offer solutions that are convincing from both a technical and an economic point of view,” concludes Stefan Haertel.
