Highly precise and digital: SMD500 the smallest pressure sensor for consumer electronics

The new pressure sensor from Bosch Sensortec marks a new generation of high precision digital pressure sensors especially designed for this industry. The SMD500 can be used as both altimeter and barometer.

The piezo-resitive pressure sensor with a monocrystalline membrane comes in a ceramic package. It is thus characterized by high accuracy and linearity. Due to its ultra low power consumption of only 3ľA on the average, the SMD500 is addressing the specific needs of consumer applications such as mobile phones, PDAs, outdoor equipment or GPS devices.

With a size of only 5x5x1.6mm, the SMD500 is the smallest pressure sensor for consumer electronics available.

SMD085 Atmospheric pressure sensor with analog interface

The SMD085 is a high precision barometric pressure sensor. The measurement principle is based on a piezoresistive technology with a very robust design and high accuracy. It is packaged in a SMD08 housing. The main application is ambient pressure measurement.

The SMD085 consists of an integrated sensing element, a logic control unit, a temperature compensation circuit as well as an offset compensation circuit. The output voltage is between 2.37 V and 4.54 V for a pressure range between 60 kPa and 115 kPa.

Due to the full integrated concept, no additional external circuits are necessary. The bipolar technology of the integrated signal condition circuit guarantees a high ESD protection. The output circuit is protected against short circuiting to VDD and GND.
