Pay now refers to a debit card such as local debit card or international branded debit card e.g. maestro from MasterCard or VISA Electron from VISA.
Pay now means in this case that when card is used for a purchase at a POS terminal, the amount is deducted from cardholder account same day or next day.
Pay later refers to a credit card such as local credit card or international branded credit card e.g. MasterCard or VISA.
Pay later means in this case that payments done with credit card will be deducted form cardholder account as bulk payment at the end of the month.

- Encoded Chip in case of EMV card
EMV Chip cards are available as VISA or MasterCard Debit card with chip or as VISA or MasterCard Credit card with chip.
Due to increasing fraud rate with magnetic stripe cards more and more EMV chip cards are being issued by banks. In order for the EMV cards to be operable in the payment environment it requires the acceptance devices (POS’s and ATM’S) and the background systems to be updated to accept chip cards.
Not too many countries have started to shift issuing from magntic stripe cards to EMV chip cards.
Basically there are 3 Types of EMV chip cards:
SDA ones (Standard cards). SDA = Static Data Authentication
DDA ones. DDA = Dynamic Data Authentication. More sophisticated than SDA as it enables digital signature.
CDA ones are more sophisticated than DDA ones.
